ComfortDelGro Rent-A-Car Moves Into The Prime Mover Market

ComfortDelGro's car rental and leasing arm is expanding into the heavy vehicle class with the addition of five prime movers to its fleet.

The first two units -- a Volvo FM and an UD Quon - have already been delivered to ComfortDelGro Rent-A-Car (CRAC) while the remaining three - two units of Volvo FM and one unit of UD Quon - will be delivered by the end of the year. Depending on demand, more prime movers may be added to the rental in the future.

ComfortDelGro To Pilot New Booking Service Amid Growing Passenger Demand

ComfortDelGro announced on 7 May it will pilot a new booking service called ComfortRIDE that allows passengers to book rides with fixed fares set based on demand at the time of booking.

The taxi operator said it will begin pilot testing ComfortRIDE on the existing ComfortDelGro Taxi Booking App on 15 May. The service will be available at first to a small group of passengers and may be extended to more passengers on a later date.

Finnish start-up MaaS Global had teamed up with local transport giant ComfortDelGro to launch an app for commuters to use for travel across all modes: taxi, bus, train, rental car and bicycle.

Although pricing has not been determined, it is expected to offer the most value to high-usage commuters - not likely the $120 monthly TransitLink card for unlimited train and bus rides.
